Press reports suggest that nearly 600 arts programs are affected, though most don't rely exclusively on state support for their activities. Nonetheless, it seems likely that a number of organisations will close down as a result of the withdrawal of state support.

Bookspace joins Great School Libraries campaign as headline sponsor
BookSpace, the library furniture and design company, have joined Great School Libraries as their headline sponsor. BookSpace aims to ensure that every child has access to a well-resourced school library. According to BookSpace. research has proven that school libraries have a positive impact on pupil attainment, wellbeing and attitudes towards reading. Yet despite this, two thirds of primary schools don't have an allocated library budget - and the number of secondary school libraries seems to be reducing. BookSpace is supporting the Great School Libraries campaign so they can continue their work to improve school library provision and ensure school libraries receive adequate funding, resources and recognition and thus promote and encourage a lifelong love of reading.
